I have 5 college buddies that are scattered around the United States, and once every year, we take a couple of weeks and travel to a destination that is somewhat equidistant for all of us for our annual fly fishing trip. One of the guys lives in North Carolina like me, so depending on which direction we are going, one of us will travel to the other’s home, and we leave from there in the same vehicle. It works out really well, and it beats traveling on my own. The only problem is that we have to pack for 2 people.
This last year, we were probably taking the longest trip we’d set out on, which was to the midwest. My friend and I discussed the fact that we’d probably need to make more space for things we needed to bring along, and different options on how we would make that happen. Of course, one of the things that took up the most space were our fly fishing rods, which obviously could not be eliminated from our equipment.
I had been getting my supplies from Trouts Fly Fishing, and overall I’d been really happy with them as a company. Not only did they have a ton of things for fly fishing, but they had so much information on the sport as well. I knew someone that tried a different brand and weren’t very happy with their purchase.
I chose to check their website out to see if we could find a good solution to this problem. Just as I had hoped, they carried the Riversmith River Quiver Rod Carrier, with two different models: one could hold 2 rods and the other could hold 4. I opted for the 4 carrier, figuring that I could take it off of my vehicle if we needed to put it on my friend’s truck on another trip. It also allowed me to bring both of my rods without taking up a space from my friend.
Everything worked out perfectly. We had zero issues with installation or performance. Just like every other thing I’ve acquired from Trouts Fly Fishing, this product did not disappoint, and only enhanced our experience. We’ve used it now for closer trips as well, just because it’s so much more convenient than having them in the car with us.
Overall I’ve been pretty impressed with Trouts Fly Fishing, especially now with my Riversmith River Quiver Rod Carrier. It’s taken a lot of the stress out of my trips, and honestly that makes it worth every penny. I most definitely recommend this product for anyone who travels with their fly fishing gear.
